Can two players of the same name play for the same team at the same time?

Theoretically, yes. It hasn’t happened yet, but there is no reason why it shouldn’t be allowed to happen. When players have only the same last name in common, first initials are used on jerseys and on scorecards. When the first initial and the last name are the same, the first two letters from the first name are used. If the whole first name and last name were the same, the confusion could be resolved in several ways. A middle or nickname could be used, or one could go by just the last name, and the other could go by an initial and the last name. So if it ever does happen, it shouldn’t confused even the drunkest of spectators.
